Customer Reviews about Humane Society of Broward County

  • Quite a beautiful facility. I was looking into cat adoption options here. I did not find a cat I decided to adopt, but I got to experience some of the process. After stopping in and getting your identification known, you are free to wander around and observe the cats in their cages. You can write down up to three options to bring to the front desk. After this, you are given a room to wait in. Eventually, someone will arrive, talk to you and get more information about you, and then bring you the first cat after giving you more info about it. I met 3 cats, and brought my significant other the next day so we could both interact with the one I had decided on. Unfortunately, she had been adopted out by then (bad luck, she had been there exactly 40 days, but surely gets adopted a few hours after I meet her! Alas)... We met 3 other cats. They were good cats, but weren't a fit for our situation. I did have some concerns. Some of the cats had nasty colds (spraying green snot everywhere while you're hanging out with them), some were in heat (a bit awkward to interact with), and they all had sharp, untrimmed claws that could easily leave wounds even if the cat is being playful. I can understand this to a degree, as I'm sure they receive cats from all sorts of situations -- but I'd have expected these things to be taken care of BEFORE putting a cat up for adoption. One middle-aged male cat we looked at was marked as neutered, but he clearly was not. It was a mostly positive experience, regardless. It was certainly an interesting way to meet possible adoptable cats... but for how long it took just to meet 3 options, and the unready state the cats were in, it left a bit to be desired. At some other adoption centers, we can meet 30+ cats in the time it took us to meet 3 here.

  • This place looks like a resort for animals. It's super clean . It looks like they take proud of their facility and pets. Everyone was very cordial. We took two kitties. They make sure you are fit for adoption prior to letting them go. My kitties had been spayed and neutered. They gave medication to de worm them and two bags of food . They signed me up for a health insurance for a month.
